Marvel's Wolverine: We Need to Talk About That Boss Fight
From “Let’s Get Through This” to “That Was So Damn Good”

Okay, I’ll be honest. By this point in Marvel’s Wolverine, I was starting to feel like, all right, let’s get the ball rolling here. We spend a lot of time in Japan, and there were definitely moments where I just wanted to get through it. But as Caboose and I wrap up this section in episode five of Going in Blind Video Game Club, this is where it starts to feel like there’s some real momentum. There’s a lot to talk about, and not just the things Logan can put his claws through.
One of my favourite parts of doing this show is getting to ask Caboose about the comic book stuff that I don’t necessarily know. Sometimes that gives me a whole new appreciation for what the game is doing. Other times, it leaves me thinking, okay, that’s really cool, but the game probably could have explained that a little better. We get into some of that here, and somehow I also come out of this conversation wanting to finally pick up Old Man Logan. So, yeah, my reading list is getting longer.
But the combat in this section? My God. Without getting into who, what, or how, there’s a boss fight here that was so damn fun I honestly didn’t want it to end. It kicked my ass, but once I started getting the timing down, I was shouting at my screen out of pure excitement. That’s the kind of challenge I love. Japan took its time getting here, but this stretch gave us plenty to get excited about. Now the story’s really kicking in.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
This episode is the end of Japan section of the game. So if you have not played past this part, I’d recommend play it first and then come back and watch this episode. The next episode will be Madripoor in Lowtown up until when Logan “wakes up.”
